Hi!!! My name is Jose. I was born in Guatemala City, but I live in New York City for 17 years!!! I studied there, and got my college degree as an Art History major at Hunter College, CUNY in NY. I am also a teacher. I teach Spanish and English at an academy that I own partnership of. My moter tongue is Spanish, but I feel more comfortable writing in English. Now, after some years of living in Guatemala, Im offered the job opportunity of moving to China as a contact for an international importer here in America. Some people tell me its not a very good idea, since China is so different from any country Ive lived in, but Im used to adapting to new environments and culture. Ive read a lot about Chinas History and Art, and have always admired its people. I see this as an opportunity of a lifetime. Ive been a frequent traveler. Ive lived in New York, Mexico City, Venezuela, Paris and Oporto, in Portugal, where my grandparents are from. I never had problems adapting to any of those countries. Ive been to Europe in numerous occasions: I have a son who lives in Sweden. Im not married. I guess marriage has become something I dont consider a priority anymore. I love to cook, and enjoy cooking a great deal. I also love to read, especially Art, Architecture and History related books. I always admired the Chinese, even though Ive never been to Asia. As a Chinese, Do you think its a good idea to move and live there for a while, maybe for good? Im very excited about sharing ideas and thoughts with people who have such an amazing culture... I dont know, maybe Im an idealist, but as I see this immense transformation that is currently happening in China, Id love to witness and maybe if I move there, teach English and Spanish to interested people, besides my responsibilities for my Latin American boss. What do you think? Is there any space for people like me out there? Please feel free to express your ideas and thoughts. They are respected and much appreciated by me. Thank you!!!

Dear all,
Im 26 years old Hungarian girl and I have been learning Chinese for a year. At present I am working for a multinational company in Budapest, but in August I will leaving this firm. We (I and my husband) will move to Switzerland. My great dream is to spend some months in China in order to improve my language skills. (It would be great if I could find an opportunity (homestay, practice place, volunteering, etc...) to live there.) I dont know what it is that im looking for...for the one reason that everytime something good happens, or you fall in love, its different. It seems very difficult to then place you finger on the one thing that actually was the thing that you enjoyed, or were looking for in the first place. So my message is just that everyone should just go with what is happening on that very moment...cause if you dont, you might then later on realise that the think you miss the most, is the thing that you thought you didnt want a couple of days, weeks, or even years ago. Be spontanious!!!
